Kevin Hope

Kevin Hope was born in the Koo Wee Rup area and, together with brothers Ian and Brian, grew up on his parents’ farm. Thirty years ago Kevin’s father, Albert Hope, started growing potatoes as well as dairy farming. Ten years later potato growing became the main farming enterprise, then in the early 1990s, the family decided to grow asparagus as well as potatoes to maintain all year round production on the farm.

”Here in the Koo Wee Rup area we have the best of both worlds - we are only one hour from Melbourne yet we can enjoy country living.

Asparagus is a unique distinctive vegetable. It is intriguing the way that it grows and the conditions in this area seem to fulfil all its growing needs - the rich peaty fertile soils we have here and the mild climate with fresh sea breezes. Our asparagus has been recognised for its clean green qualities and it is held in high esteem on the global market.

Asparagus is an exotic vegetable at an affordable price. It is also one of the easiest vegetables to prepare and can be used to create a range of dishes for everyday eating,” says Kevin.

Kevin is committed to the promotion of the industry and dedicates much time and energy to his role of President of the Australian Asparagus Council.

“We hope to achieve unity within the industry to be able to promote asparagus and bring our sales to a new level. We are proud of the quality of our asparagus and wish to make it accessible to everyone both on the domestic market and the global market." explains Kevin.
