Australian Asparagus In spite of a history spanning more than 2000 years, the fascination for this delectable vegetable has not diminished. Asparagus was first introduced into Australia by the early colonists, and is now grown in most states of Australia. Australian asparagus has been highly valued on the global stage for more than two decades, and although Australians recently considered asparagus a delicacy to be eaten on special occasions rather than for every day meals, this trend is changing. Asparagus is suited to growing areas with a temperate - subtropical climate and a cool winter. Sizable plantings are found in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland with smaller plantings in Western Australia. | ||||||||||||||||||||
